Pulmatordid

Vanade eestlaste pulmakommetes oli tähtis koht leival, mis seisis puutumatult pulmalaua, kodust lahkudeski pandi pruudile päts koduleiba koos kaasavaraga ühes.
Pulmatordi lahtilõikamine on pulmapeo üks kauneimaid hetki. Tavaliselt lõigatakse tort lahti keskööl, pärast pruudikimbu maha mängimist ja meheks löömist.
Pruutpaar lõikab torti koos, nuga hoiab pruut ja peigmees omakorda tema kätt. Samal ajal võib pruut püüda laua all peigmehe jalale astuda, et ka perenaise sõna majas maksma hakkaks. Noorpaar sööb torti ühe taldriku pealt, võib ka teineteist sööta. Siin saab pulmarahvas nende koostööd näha. Teineteise toitmine kannab ka teineteise toetamise ideed. Edasi lõikavad ja jagavad torti juba uus noorpaar.
Tänapäeval on tordi suurus ja kuju väga erinev. Reeglina valmistatakse see heledates toonides kuid on seotud ka pulmavärvidega. Näiteks on pulmavärv kollane, siis on tordil ka midagi kollast.
